If you’re looking for a bucket list mountain bike trip, then Retallack should be at the top. With the largest commercial backcountry mountain bike terrain in the world, over 1.5 million acres of tenure, this is the place to go for an unforgettable biking adventure. Situated in the Selkirk and Purcell mountains of the West Kootenays, Retallack offers more than 100 km (62 mi) of singletrack trails across heavenly alpine terrain. The longest trail, with over 6,000 ft (1,828 m) of vertical, is the highlight in the region, and will leave bikers with an adrenaline rush to remember.

Lodge guests have access to a personal shuttle and helicopter drops (weather permitted) to access biking terrain. At Retallack, riding is the focus, and guests are guaranteed 10-15 runs per day. Every trip is fully-guided, with the support of a shuttle stocked with snacks, lunch, and beverages to keep guests focused on riding.  After a full day on the trails, celebration and relaxing are in order. Here you can après at the bar, relax in the hot tub, get pampered with a massage, or head for the sauna. The gourmet meals will keep riders fuelled for days of riding, too.

This timber-framed, 11,000-square-foot, lodge sites on the banks of the Kaslo River, surrounded by old-growth forest, and backed by an immense backcountry playground. The lodge has space for 24 guests, in 11 guest suites, each with a private bathroom and shower.

Packages include a full-day of riding, with up to 15 runs each day, and complete with backcountry guides to make the trip smooth. All food and meals are provided, including gourmet meals back at the lodge created by a talented in-house chef.

 The lodge has downhill bikes available for rent but guests are encouraged to bring their own set up for optimal fun.

Biking at Retallack is open from July through September.

A limited selection of Transition bikes are available for rent and can be requested at time of booking.

Retallack is an hour drive north of the town of Nelson in BC’s Kootenay region. Guests of the lodge can drive on a well-maintained highway to reach the lodge. It is a two-hour drive from Castlegar and a five-hour drive from Kelowna.
