Looking for a brag-worthy adventure? Then a floatplane drop to remote alpine lake followed by a biking epic is the kind of experience you’re looking for.

Tyax Adventues sits on the banks of Tyaughton Lake and at the doorstep of the South Chilcotin mountains, is a bikers’ paradise. Guests and bikes are loaded up on a De Havilland Beaver floatplane and dropped on one of the many backcountry lakes. Guests can explore over 200 km (124 mi) of singletrack trails, over alpine passes, and through sprawling meadows. Spend a full-day, or multiple days, exploring this vast backcountry terrain before navigating your way back at to the lodge or to one of the many backcountry cabins that dot the trail network. Wilderness luxury awaits back at the lodge with an on-site spa, hot tub, and fireside lounge.

Tyax Adventures is a wilderness experience in the heart of BC’s backcountry. Guests have option to book one of the lodge rooms, chalets, camping and RV sites, or cabin in the backcountry. Guests can relax lakeside, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, go on a flightseeing trip, horseback ride, jet boat, and more. The fully-serviced spa, lounge, bar, and restaurant can take care of all your needs pre- and post-ride.

Fly and bike packages range from single day rides to multi-day adventures, accessed via floatplane from Tyax Lodge to the South Chilcotin backcountry. Mountain bikers can opt for fully-guided tours or self-guided options, ranging in duration, price, and difficulty.

Biking adventures at Tyax are available from the end of May through October.

Options for half-day and full-day tours that leave from the lodge are also available. Special events and packages, including ladies only fly and bike camps, are offered throughout the summer. 

Full suspension Norco bikes are also available for rent from the lodge.

The journey is all part of the adventure at Tyax. Located near the tiny town of Gold Bridge, this lodge is accessible by ground or air.

Those wishing to make the journey by car should be well-equipped for long distance travel on gravel roads, have 4-wheel drive vehicles, and spare tires. For road conditions, check DriveBC.

Those who wish to make the journey quick, can opt for a charter floatplane drop to Tyaughton Lake from Whistler, Vancouver Airport, or Vancouver Harbour.
