Sun Peaks Bike Park
The Sun Peaks Bike Park boasts 595 metres (1,954 feet) of chairlift-accessed vertical, reaching a huge and diverse trail network ranging from technical DH and flowing machine-made freeride trails, to incredible and scenic alpine cross country. All the comforts of home are located right at the base of the mountain and are extremely bike friendly, so you can kick back on a patio or lakeside after your day on the trails, before the quick pedal back to wherever you’re hanging your hat for the evening.
Our downhill trails are nothing short of legendary, with a rich history of major race events since the park’s inception in 1999, including 2012 BC Cup, 2013 Canada Cup, 2014 and 2015 Canadian National DH Championship races. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or just want a taste of the best a DH trail can be, Sun Peaks is your ideal training ground.
Although we’ve always been known for our classic singletrack trails, recent years have seen a huge explosion of machine work in the park. The result is heaps of fast and flowing freeride trails, loaded with hits and berms for maximum airtime, all the way from top to bottom. You’ll even find a dirt jump park right under the chairlift with features ranging from beginner tables to giant doubles.
Building on the success of our popular lift-accessed cross country, the Altitude XC trail is the first of its kind at Sun Peaks - traversing through the alpine meadows, forests, and peaks of Mt. Tod, with the option to lock up your bike and hike a short 1.5km to the summit of Mt. Tod before reaching your destination at Tod Lake. This trail is an out and back from the top of the Sunburst chairlift, with the option to connect to Big Rock Ride for an 11km (595m descent) back to the village.
Our Mt. Morrisey cross country trail network has also seen some new trail development, and this entire network has now been mapped and is yours to explore free of charge.
With three peaks to summit and a trail for any style or ability level, you’ll definitely want to add Sun Peaks to your hit list this summer!
