PARKS, LAKES AND RIVERS
Kimberley is situated between the Purcell Mountains and the Rockies and has an abundance of lakes, rivers and parks all close by. In fact, you don’t even have to leave the city boundaries to explore the Kimberley Nature Park which is one of the largest trail networked municipal parks in Canada. You will find over 600 metres of elevation change from the lowest to the highest point, so perfect for the epic quad busting climb or the gentle ride with the family. We have a gentle paved trail that heads into the Rocky Mountain Valley which you can ride, skate or just stroll along. And don’t forget we even have a National Park just over an hour away!

Need to wind down after a full day of too much good living? Kimberley has an many spas and salons waiting to pamper you, ease the aching muscles and get you ready for the next day of fun and adventure. Dance classes, work outs, athletic training, yoga or hot yoga and more - the choice is yours, we have them all! Want to chill out at an all natural Hot Spring? We have three to choose from, all a short drive from Kimberley.
Hiking: with the Kimberley Nature Park on your doorstep, and the Purcell and Rocky Mountains just minutes away, Kimberley allows for some of the best hiking in Canada. From easy strolls to roaring waterfalls to multi-day treks along the ridges of the Rockies, no hiker will be disappointed.
North Star Rails to Trail: this 26km of paved cycling path between Kimberley and Cranbrook is the former rail line that connected Kimberley, and the world’s largest lead and zinc mine, to the main branch in Cranbrook. At its steepest point it is only a 3% grade making this an easy ride for all the family. The ride offers fantastic vistas on the Rockies and the Purcells.
Golfing: with three championship golf courses, all located within the boundaries of Kimberley, and only a short drive from one another, each of these three unique 18-hole golf courses are well established, award-winning golf destinations. Offering inspiring, scenic views of mountain peaks, river valleys and forested hillsides, the Golf Kimberley courses are sure to impress.
Whitewater Rafting or Kayaking: whether you are looking for a scenic float trip for the whole family or a wild white water challenge, the rivers around Kimberley provide some of the best rafting in North America. Outstanding mountain scenery, an abundance of wildlife, gourmet meals and the opportunity for cliff jumping and body surfing are all part of the experience.
Fly fishing: the dozens of mountain lakes and rivers that surround Kimberley provide phenomenal cutthroat, rainbow, and bull trout fishing. These waters offer some of the feistiest fish in the area and with so many options to choose from, it’s rare to come home empty handed.
18 Hole Putting Course: with just over 23,000 sq ft , this 18 hole putting course is like playing on a real golf course just a miniature version. Enjoy water ponds, streams and water falls, rock terraced fairways and greens, real sand traps, beautiful landscaping and more. Challenge family and friends to a round!

Underground Mining Railway
Visit us and ride the rails through the beautiful Mark Creek valley as you listen to the history of Kimberley and the Sullivan Mine. Learn about life as a miner at the Underground Interpretive Centre as our miner guide will describe hard rock mining and demonstrate some of the equipment used in the Sullivan Mine. Join us for a short walk to the Sullivan Mine Powerhouse for a guided tour featuring the huge compressors and generators that powered the mine. Board the train again to learn more about Kimberley and enjoy spectacular scenery and glimpses of the occasional wild life as you travel back to the station.
Arts and Culture
Centre 64 is Kimberley’s arts and cultural centre: fine art exhibits, live performances, and workshops year-round. Come and discover the beautiful art gallery, cozy theatre, dance studio, fibre arts room, and ceramics studio.
Spirit Rock Climbing Centre
Downtown Kimberley the new Climbing Centre is a community-orientated climbing gym where you can challenge old friends, meet new friends and get fit all at the same time.
The Aquatic Centre features a lap pool, diving board, a leisure pool, a Lazy River, a hot tub and a steam room (after a day on the bike what more could the body want!).
With a stunning view of the valley and surrounded by natural trees, Cominco Gardens is a 5 hectare property that boasts over 45,000 flowers annually and is free to visit.
Kimberley Conference and Athlete Centre
When in town check out what is happening at the Conference Centre. Designed to accommodate conventions and banquets there is usually something worth knowing about happening up at the Conference Centre. It also contains a high-perfomance paralympic training centre.
The downtown area is a pedestrian area where you will find quirky cafe’s and restaurants with a smattering of pop up boutiques and shops, child and dog friendly water fountains, giant chess pieces and the Spirit Rock Climbing Wall. A good place to unwind after a fun day on the bike.
You will not believe the number of restaurants and cafe’s that are here to cater for everyone’s needs and taste buds. After a full day in the saddle head downtown and have yourself a food fiesta. Choose from American, Mexican, Vegetarian, German, Chinese or Japanese to name just a few options. Make sure you check out the Pedal & Tap for an après ride.
