Welcome to the Red Shutter Inn, perfectly located in a ski-in location just one building away from the Red and Silverlode chairs at Red Mountain Resort on one side, and next to the “Big Red Cats” headquarters and “Fresh Cafe and Apres” on the other.
The Red Shutter Inn is the original lodging at the base of Red Mountain, and was built in the 1960’s out of a load of lumber that fell off the back of a truck. While it has been updated since, it still has more of a ski club feel to it than a hotel vibe. Though each room has its own heater, and free wifi is available, gathering around the wood stove in the lounge room or in the huge outdoor hot tub are highlights of the Red Shutter experience. Cuddle with “Big Red Cat” on the couch (Big Red is a very friendly cat who lives at the lodge and is the mascot for Big Red Cats cat skiing next door) and walk to 3 nearby restaurants, or take the free hourly shuttle into town right from the front door. With only 6 rooms, it is cozy, comfortable, and social.
Next door, the 2-bedroom A-Frame Cabin sleeps 4 and offers a full kitchen, for those who prefer a self-catering option. Probably the only lodging at the resort that falls into the $50/person price bracket, it’s a great choice for groups of 4 who want autonomy - it’s also a bit “rustic,” yet it still offers access to the best hot tub and sauna in town, and has free wifi and comfortable beds (king-single in the main bedroom is made up as a king, but can be split, and the king-singles in the 2nd room are dressed as singles).
The Red Shutter Inn is open 12 months a year, but is busiest in winter when the ski resort and cat skiing is operating.
