What To do

Williams Lake is surrounded by stunning BC Parks to the East and West. Enjoy hiking, kayaking, canoeing and other nature activities in these world class parks. There are also countless Recreation Sites in the Cariboo that offer secluded natural getaways in the rich beauty of the interior.

Cariboo Mountains Provincial Park – Cariboo Mountains Provincial Park is true wilderness, dominated by high serrated peaks and glaciers, and densely forested valleys featuring attractive lakes and lush wetlands. The Park is situated in the interior wet belt between Bowron and Wells Gray Provincial Parks.

Ts’il?os Provincial Park – Ts’yl?os (pronounced “sigh-loss”) Provincial Park comprises approximately 233,000 hectares of rugged mountains, clear blue lakes, glaciers, alpine meadows, and waterfalls. It is bordered by the rugged peaks of the Coast Mountains to the west, and the dry Interior Plateau to the east. The diversity and contrast in landscapes and vegetation are a result of a rainshadow effect on the east side of the mountains.

South Chilcotin Mountain Park – South Chilcotin Mountains Provincial Park is a visually spectacular area with mid elevation grasslands, sub alpine and alpine meadows, alpine lakes and mountain peaks. The park encompasses the complete watersheds of Lizard and Leckie Creeks and significant portions of other large intact watersheds and headwaters. If you have heard of Tyax Lodge and its alpine riding, then the South Chilcotin is a must see. All the trails in the park can be accessed by mountain bike, and the area offers some of the most amazing backcountry riding in the Province. Contact for more information.

The Cariboo has some unique outdoor experiences that cannot be had anywhere else in the Province. From epic horse pack trips, to jet boat adventures, the Cariboo is a four season playground that will satisfy anyones outdoor dreams.

Cariboo Chilcotin Jetboat Adventures - Doug Green owns and operates this tour company who was instrumental in the Where The Trail Ends film from Freeride Entertainment. Enjoy epic trips into the heart of the Chilcotin via jetboat, which is the only way to access this area.

Bowron Lakes – Bowron Lake Park is a large wilderness area situated on the western slopes of the Cariboo Mountain Range. The world-renowned Bowron Lake Canoe Circuit encompasses a 116 km chain of lakes, waterways and connecting portages

Coyote Rock Golf - Owned by the Williams Lake Indian Band, this 9 hold golf course is situated just outside Williams Lake.

White Saddle Aviation – From our home base of Tatla Lake, White Saddle Air Services provides air charters to the Coast Mountain Range and the West Chilcotin Plateau, of British Columbia, Canada. We have been flying people in and around the Coast Mountains for the past 35 years. Located near the base of Mount Waddington, British Columbia’s highest peak, this very remote region of BC offers the adventurer some of the richest wilderness grounds in the world. Cast your eyes, and camera, upon unbelievable scenic beauty. From stunning mountains, glaciers and glacier fed lakes… this is where dreams come from…

Highland Helicopters - A solid supporter of mountain biking, Highlands is primarily a resource service outfit. However, for those looking for remote access to Cariboo wilderness, Highlands is a good bet for the eastern part of the region.

As Ryan Leach might say, a happy mind and body equals a good ride. Williams Lake is a diverse community, so don’t think its all Stampede and logging for health and wellness opportunities.
